Istanbul University Faculty of Economics Department of Management Information Systems Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony of our department was held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 11:30 am, and the 85th Anniversary of the Faculty of Economics is celebrated today, the Department of Management Information Systems has taken its place among other departments as the eighth department of the Faculty of Economics. The opening ceremony of the department was attended by the Rector of Istanbul University Prof. Dr. Mahmut AK, Vice Rector of Istanbul University Prof. Dr. Levent ŞAHİN, Vice Rector of Istanbul University Prof. Dr. Recep GÜLOĞLU, Dean of Istanbul University Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Ömer EKMEKÇİ, Heads of Departments of the Faculty of Economics, faculty members and students.
In the opening speeches of the ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics of Istanbul University, Prof. Dr. Sayım YORĞUN took the floor. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Sayım YORĞUN expressed the activities carried out by our Faculty to bring tradition and the future together, and stated that he believed that our Department would make significant contributions to our Faculty with its software, coding, blockchain and artificial intelligence studies. After Prof. Dr. Sayım YORĞUN, Rector of Istanbul University Prof. Dr. Mahmut AK made his speech. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut AK stated that among the existing examples in universities, the management side is more effective; however, our Department will come to the fore with its informatics side, without skipping the management side, thus contributing to both our Faculty, our University and higher education. He indicated that our department will continue its education life with both undergraduate and graduate programs in the 2022-2023 academic year.
After the opening speeches, the ceremony continued with the ribbon cutting. The newly opened classroom on the floor where our department is located, the retro computer collection in this classroom, the Drone and 3-dimensional printers in our department were examined with the participants of the ceremony.
The ceremony ended with a group photo shoot.
